Annapolis Crime: Thieves Grab Tools from Construction Site
Contractors reported that someone knocked down a side door and used bolt cutters to snap a lock.

Police said they responded to a report of more than $2,600 in tools stolen from a home under renovation on Forest Drive.
Officers responded on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. and spoke to a contractor, who said that a large number of tools were missing. The contractor said one of his workers left the construction scene on March 28, leaving the tools in the lower level of the house. The employee returned Tuesday morning to find that the tools were missing. The contractor noticed that a side door had been kicked open.
Officers investigated and learned that an unknown number of suspects forced open the side door then used a bolt cutter to remove a thick cable lock from an aluminum brake.

The stolen tools included a Black and Decker jigsaw, a Skil sawzall, a Dewalt grinder, a table saw, shop vac, cordless drill, a leather tool belt with hand tools; and a 10-foot aluminum siding brake. The combined value of the tools is $2,635.
Police said they dusted the area for fingerprints, but could not find any suitable to assist in the investigation.

According to the contractor, the house had been in foreclosure two months ago. Shortly after the foreclosure, the contractor was hired to do work on the house and learned that copper had been stolen from inside.
Men Robbed Near Annapolis Walk
Annapolis police responded to a report of an armed robbery Tuesday night near the Annapolis Walk community.
Police said they responded at 10:45 p.m. and spoked to two men, who said they were confronted by two other men. The suspects pointed a handgun at the victims and took their money, keys and a cell phone, according to police. The suspects, who were wearing ski masks and hooded sweatshirts, fled in the direction of Annapolis Walk and could not be located.
GPS System, Camera Stolen From Car
Police said they received a report of a GPS unit and digital camera stolen from an unlocked car in Annapolis last month. Police said thieves reportedly took a Garmin Nuvi GPS unit and a Nikon D90 digital camera. The thefts are believed to have taken place between the evening of March 5 and the morning of March 8 at the 100 block of South Southwood Avenue.
