Police Chase Prompts 2 Annapolis Carjacking Arrests In Capitol Heights: Report

A police chase from Annapolis to Capitol Heights ended with the arrest of two teenage carjacking suspects, officers said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Two teenagers were accused of attempted and completed armed carjackings in Annapolis. Authorities said they arrested the minors after a police chase into Prince George's County.

Officers did not release the suspects' names.

They noted, however, that the 17-year-old boy will be charged as an adult with attempted armed carjacking, armed carjacking and other related charges.

Authorities said a 15-year-old boy from Annapolis was charged on a juvenile citation with attempted armed carjacking, armed carjacking and eight other related charges. He was taken to Cheltenham Youth Detention Center.

Police said the encounter started last Wednesday around 11:05 p.m. with the attempted carjacking in a parking lot in the 600 block of Americana Drive. A woman reported that three male suspects approached her, and one showed a handgun while ordering her to leave the vehicle and hand over her keys.

Officers said the victim refused, and the suspects eventually walked away and started looking in other cars.

Another woman reported that three male suspects approached her around 11:25 p.m. that night in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Norman Drive and one flashed a handgun. Authorities said the armed suspect hit the victim in the head with the gun, stole her car keys and took her cell phone before the group drove off in her black Toyota Corolla.

Responding officers said they saw the sedan on Hilltop Lane near Spa Road.

Police said they tried to stop the car, but the driver refused to pull over and left Annapolis via Maryland Route 665.

Authorities said they lost sight of the car in Prince George's County.

The Prince George's County Police Department spotted the occupied Toyota In Capitol Heights in the 1000 block of Longleaf Road, a press release said.

Officers said they caught two of the occupants as they ran away, but the third escaped.

Authorities said they found a handgun and other evidence.

The Annapolis Police Department identified the two suspects as the accused teens in the attempted and completed carjackings earlier that night.
