Baltimore's dockmaster office has been losing about $100,000 per year, but said the city of Annapolis may offer insight into how to reverse the trend.
The Baltimore Business Journal reported that Baltimore and Annapolis have different rates and systems for charging boat owners who dock in their harbors. The Annapolis model, the Business Journal said, may offer guidance as to how Baltimore can restructure fees.
In Annapolis, boats are charged based on their size, with larger boats paying a higher hourly fee. In Baltimore, boats are charged a flat fee for up to five hours.
