City Gets Federal Grant Money for Dock Repairs
The city will use the $1.5 million to repair the bulkhead along Ego Alley.

Annapolis will get $1.5 million from the federal government to assist with upgrades to the City Dock area, Mayor Josh Cohen announced.
The grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be used for repairs to the bulkhead at Ego Alley, and will help move along the larger $12.5 infrastructure project in the area.
The deteriorating bulkhead was visible during low tides. The city also is working to address flooding concerns and stormwater infrastructure.

Work on the bulkhead project is not expected to begin until after tha boat show season in 2014.
Money for the project came from grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources BIG Tier II program, which is administered through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Those grants are funded using an excise tax on fishing equipment.
