'House of Cards' Films in Annapolis This Week

A production crew was hard at work this weekend transforming the Maryland State House into a set for the Netflix series "House of Cards," starring Kevin Spacey.

The series, now filming its second season, will be using the State House as a makeshift U.S. Senate Chamber, and will be employing Annapolis locals as extras in the scenes.

Trucks, vans and trailers lined the streets surrounding the State House, as the team from Knight Takes King Production, LLC erected massive lights inside the chambers Sunday.

Filming is set to begin Monday and will continue into Tuesday, a production assistant told Patch. No word on if Spacey will be gracing Annapolis, but as he is the principal actor, it seems likely.

According to The Capital-Gazette, the scene that will be filmed is set in the winter, so actors and extras will be donning heavy coats, hats and gloves, despite the temperature forecast in the mid-80s this week.
