IKEA Opens 1st Anne Arundel Location With Small Furniture Store In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD — IKEA opened its first Anne Arundel County location last month.

The furniture store, dubbed a plan and order point, is located in the Annapolis Harbour Center. It’s sandwiched between Bath & Body Works and Jos. A. Bank.

The 3,219-square-foot outpost is not the sprawling showroom that the Swedish chain has become known for.

Instead, the store offers one-on-one consultations with an IKEA representative. Customers can get recommendations for furniture that best fits their needs, secure a quote and place their order, all in one place.

Shoppers can’t take their items home that day, but they can schedule a delivery to their home or pick up their order when it’s shipped to the plan and order point. Online orders are also available for pickup from this location.

“We are thrilled to bring the best of IKEA to our DMV neighbors. We have seen that customers are still eager for in-person experiences, and we hope that this new Plan and order point with Pick-up provides a new and convenient way to shop,” said Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA U.S.

IKEA held its grand opening ceremony on April 24. There was a ribbon-cutting, giveaways and free refreshments. A video of the ribbon-cutting and a tour of the store is posted here.

This is IKEA’s fourth Maryland location. Full showrooms are located in College Park and White Marsh. Gaithersburg also has a plan and order point.

IKEA is located at 2528 Solomons Island Road in the Annapolis Harbour Center.
