Marathon Explosions: 8 Runners from Annapolis On Race List

Patch is awaiting word on the safety of runners following a deadly explosion near the finish line.

At least two people have been killed and dozens have been hurt in explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon.

There were at least eight runners from the Annapolis area who were on the entry list for the race. To learn if they have been found safe, you can check the Red Cross "Safe and Well" website to see if they have registered there. Google is also hosting its own service to find missing racers. 

The Navy Marathon Team has returned safely from the race, according to the group's Facebook page.

"Everyone on the Navy Marathon Team is safe after today's events at the Boston Marathon. Please pray for those injured and lost from this tragic event," a team representative said.

The explosion occurred just before 4 p.m., four hours into the race.
