Pickleball Courts Replacing Former Bed Bath & Beyond In Anne Arundel County
A former Bed Bath & Beyond will be replaced with pickleball courts in Anne Arundel County. Here's the plan.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Indoor pickleball courts will soon fill the vacancy left by Bed Bath & Beyond in Annapolis.
Life Time, an existing gym in the Annapolis Town Center, will replace the former big-box store with 11 courts.
Construction will start this spring. The 46,000-square-foot expansion should be done by the end of the year.

"We're thrilled about the expansion of Life Time Annapolis, particularly the addition of indoor pickleball courts, as it perfectly aligns with our mission to be responsive to what our community wants," Annapolis Town Center General Manager Christi Swanson said in a Monday press release announcing the news.
The facility will have a pickleball lounge and viewing area. There will also be an Alpha Signature Group Training space.

Life Time opened its Annapolis Town Center location in November 2022. Once the pickleball expansion is complete, the gym will span nearly 90,000 square feet.
"This expansion is a phenomenal opportunity to bring our premier pickleball experience ... to the area in a prime real estate space within Annapolis Town Center. This new space will quickly become a huge regional draw for everyone from avid pickleball players to those newer to the game," stated Parham Javaheri, Life Time's chief property development officer and president of club operations. "The positive response and consumer demand expressed by our members along with the greater Annapolis community, makes this an exciting project."

The Annapolis Bed Bath & Beyond closed last spring as the national chain approached bankruptcy. The storefront, located at 200 Harker Place in Suite 200, has been vacant ever since.
Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April 2023 and closed all its physical stores by that August, The Hill reported.
The Hill said Overstock.com bought the Bed Bath & Beyond name and relaunched its website for online orders only.
