Police: Annapolis Woman Forged License to Work at Physician's Office
Gunter allegedly took the name of a legitimate practitioner and used it to create her own license to practice.
An Annapolis woman has been charged by the state for allegedly forging an identity in order to work at a physician's office in Centreville.
ABC2News reports that Shawna Gunter, 36, of Annapolis, is accused of faking her medical paperwork and treating patients as an assistant physician without a proper license.
Queen Anne's County's states attorney Lance Richardson said Gunter provided her employer with diplomas and certification that were forged.
Gunter allegedly took the name of a legitimate practitioner and used it to create her own license to practice. During her time working, she wrote prescriptions and treated pediatric patients.
ABC2News said Gunter told police she forged the documents to obtain a higher pay grade—a $23,000 raise for a total salary of $73,000. The news outlet said they first received a tip on the forgery from the local blog Eye on Annapolis.
