Possible Tornado In Salisbury; Damage Reported (PHOTOS)

No injuries have been reported and a damage assessment is currently underway.

SALISBURY, MD — A possible tornado was reported in Salisbury late Monday afternoon. Police said that no injuries have been reported so far. Photos posted by residents to social media showed widespread damage with overturned cars.

During the hours following the extreme weather, the Salisbury Fire Department reported several incidents it was responding to with reports including downed poles, debris on the roadway and vehicle accidents. A photo posted by Salisbury police showed a tree toppled over a home. Police and fire officials were on scene at multiple locations for the reported damage.

Multiple weather hazards were in effect for Salisbury. The NWS has issued a flash flood watch until 7 a.m., a hazardous weather outlook and a flood advisory that is in effect until 4:15 p.m.

City officials warned that another band of bad weather may come through at around 4:30 p.m. A damage assessment is currently underway.

The local NWS office in Wakefield, Virginia, received several reports about damage in Salisbury due to a possible tornado with the heaviest concentration of damage near Salisbury University. Reports of damage included overturned cars, downed trees and downed utility poles. Wind damage was also reported to a home.
