UPDATE: Teen Dies, One Charged in Annapolis Shooting

Detectives have charged a Laurel man with murder in Monday's fatal shooting of a 17-year-old Annapolis girl.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A teenage girl died Monday from injuries suffered in a shooting around noon on Monday.

The victim was found at a home in the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue and taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

The victim of the shooting, Kymici Brown, 17, of Annapolis, died Monday night. Ryan Surgeon, 19, of Laurel was arrested for the homicide and is waiting his initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Annapolis Police said Monday night that Surgeon will be charged with first- and second-degree murder and lesser offenses.

Authorities have not said if Brown knew Surgeon or what may have been the motive behind the shooting.
