3. Maryland Senate Passes Gun Control Bill
Maryland senators voted Thursday night to approve an amended gun control bill rather than send the legislation to conference committee. Senators approved the bill by a vote of 28-19 just one day after the House debated the bill for 10 hours over two-days and added 17 amendments to a bill previously approved by the Senate.
4. Modern Day Arcade Opens in Annapolis Mall
Cesar Diaz is taking a gamble with a fresh concept that he hopes will bring games back to the mall. Diaz is the owner of Press Play, a new store at the Annapolis Mall that allows video game players to try out a game on major consoles before having to pay the average $60 cost.
5. Annapolis Teen Qualifies for World Championship Swim Meet
An Annapolis High School junior recently turned heads across the country by placing first in a world championship qualifying meet.
Before the sun comes up, Gavin Colley and his parents drive an hour to Baltimore and back every morning before school to practice at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club. The prestigious facility is where Olympian Michael Phelps trained, and still visits regularly.
