1-Man Crime Spree Sentencing Wednesday

Andre Antonio Henry left documents for a court appearance at one of the crime scenes, according to the county's state's attorney's office.

The Washington, DC, man responsible for a one-man commercial crime spree in Bethesda and Rockville earlier this year will be sentenced at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville, according to the Montgomery County's state's attorney's office.

Andre Antonio Henry's crime spree lasted from Jan. 28 to April 5, during which he systematically burglarized many Bethesda businesses (mostly office suites), stealing credit cards and using them for fraudulent purchasing. He was charged with eight burglaries, and pleaded guilty to three of them. He also was charged with numerous counts of credit card theft and identity fraud, according to the Montgomery County's state's attorney's office.

Henry left a trail of clues behind him. In one case, Henry left fingerprints at the crime scene. In another, some of the stolen goods were recovered at the house where he was staying. In another case, grainy surveillance video showed what appeared to be Henry committing the crime, and shortly after that, Henry was seen shopping with the victim's credit card at a local mall. Some of the items from that burglary also were found at the house where he was staying, according to the Montgomery County's state's attorney's office.

Also, Henry left his own documents for a separate court appointment at one of the crime scenes, the office added.

Henry was arrested in Prince George's County on May 9, Patch reported.

Police said that he had used a flathead screwdriver to force open the entries into the office suites that he burgled.

The burgled office suites were at the following addresses, county police reported last May:

  • 11140 Rockville Pike, Rockville, suites 300 and 340
  • 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville, suites 800, 300 and 310 (attempted)
  • 11200 Rockville Pike, Rockville, suites 504, 205 and 415
  • 7735 Old Georgetown Rd., Bethesda, suite 510
  • 7910 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, suites 300, 500 and 455 (attempted)

Henry is likely to receive a sentence of about 18 years, according to the Montgomery County's state's attorney's office.

Editor's note: This post has been corrected to state that Henry may receive 18 years, not 18 months, of prison, according to the Montgomery County's state's attorney's office. Patch apologies for the error.
