BRANDYWINE, MD -- A man has died after a collision involving two vehicles in Brandywine on Friday.

Police were called to Brandywine Road near Lee Acres Drive at around 6:25 p.m. May 17 to a report of a collision, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

"The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a Nissan was heading northbound on Brandywine Road when he, for reasons which remain under investigation, crossed the double yellow line and traveled into the southbound lanes and struck a Volkswagen," the report states. "Washington was a passenger in the Nissan and was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Nissan sustained life-threatening injuries."

Three occupants in the Volkswagen were transported by ambulance to the hospital.

"The driver of the Volkswagen suffered a non-life threatening injury," the report states. "One of two passengers was seriously injured. The second passenger was uninjured."
