$100K Winning Lotto Ticket Surprises Hyattsville Man

The Hyattsville construction and carpentry worker had scratched 4 out of 5 tickets he bought when the last one ended up being a winner.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — A Prince George's County man who popped into a 7-Eleven in Mt. Rainier to grab a coffee decided on impulse to buy five Monopoly X50 scratch-off tickets. After playing four games, the fifth one turned out to be a winner.

“When I scanned the game, I thought it was $100, but then I saw that comma and realized it was $100,000,” Roberto Fuentes Valdivia told Maryland Lottery officials.

Fuentes Valdivia, a construction and carpentry worker, plans on saving his windfall for the time being. The lucky retailer that sold the winning instant ticket is located at 3310 Chillum Road in Prince George’s County. The 7-Eleven will receive a $1,000 bonus from the lottery.
