14-Year-Old Girl Murdered In PG County, 3 Arrested: Police
Police have charged three people in connection with a teen girl's murder in Prince George's County, police say.

RIVERDALE, MD -- Police have arrested three people after finding the body of a 14-year-old girl in a creek in Prince George's County.
Police charged Cynthia Hernandez-Nucamendi, 14, of Lothian; Josue Fuentes-Ponce, 16, of Bladensburg, and Joel Escobar, 17, of Northeast D.C. They identified the victim as 14-year-old Ariana Funes-Diaz of Adelphi, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.
Police found the victim's body in a creek in the 6300 block of 64th Avenue in Riverdale at 10 a.m. on May 15, and an autopsy performed the next day determined that she died from blunt force trauma, prompting police to rule it a homicide, the report states.

"The preliminary investigation reveals that on April 18th the three arrested suspects, the fourth unidentified suspect and the victim drove together to an apartment complex in the 6300 block of 64th Avenue in Riverdale," the report adds. "The group then walked into a wooded area behind the complex where the victim was killed."
Police believe Fuentes-Ponce and Escobar are members of a gang. They are trying to identify the fourth suspect.

The arrested suspects were charged with first degree murder and related charges as adults. Escobar and Hernandez-Nucamendi are beind held without bond at the Department of Corrections, while Ponce is in custody at the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center.
