BRANDYWINE, MD -- Two people are confirmed dead after a crash in Brandywine earlier this week.

Police were called to Brandywine Road near Lee Acres Drive at around 7:55 p.m. on May 28 to a report of a fatal vehicle collision, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police identified 39-year-old Santos Carbajal as the deceased driver of one of the vehicles, and they are working to identify the second driver, who also died. No one else was in the two cars.

"The preliminary investigation reveals the unidentified driver was in an SUV heading northbound on Brandywine Road, when for reasons that are under investigation, the driver entered the southbound lanes and struck Carbajal’s van head-on," the report states. "Both drivers were pronounced dead on the scene."
