$3M Copper Wire Theft Losses Lead Police To 3 College Park Suspects

Three College Park men have been arrested in connection to a copper wire theft ring with losses in excess of $3M.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Three Prince George's County men have been arrested in connection to a copper wire theft ring blamed for more than $3 million in losses.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office stated in a news release that after an eight-month investigation into multiple reports of copper wire theft at several utility facilities across the region, three College Park men have been arrested.

On Dec. 18, Loudoun County deputies, working in partnership with Maryland State Police, the FBI, the Army Criminal Investigation Division and the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Alexandru Constantin, 43; Cristinel Petrovici, 38; and Robert Ciucur, 29; all of College Park.

Each arrested suspect faces charges of grand larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny, the sheriff’s office said. The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
