FAIRMOUNT HEIGHTS, MD -- Four people have been pronounced dead after a single-vehicle crash in Fairmount Heights, police say.

The crash happened in the 5800 block of Sheriff Road at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, and the investigation will "likely take weeks to months to complete," according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police identified the victims as 35-year-old Samuel Moss of James Farmer Way in Capitol Heights, 24-year-old Shyra Harris of Lorring Drive in District Heights, 27-year-old Antonio Price also of Lorring Drive and 21-year-old Jasmine Davis of Mentor Avenue in District Heights.

"The preliminary investigation is suggesting the SUV was westbound on Sheriff Road approaching a car that was making a left turn," the report states. "The driver of the involved SUV swerved to go around that car and lost control. The SUV struck a curb, rolled over and ultimately struck an electrical pole. Two of the occupants were ejected from the SUV."

Police believe speed was a "possible major contributing factor" in the crash.
