Air Quality Alert Due To Wildfire Smoke Prompts Health Advisory Issued In Prince George's
Prince George's officials issued a health advisory due to the wildfire smoke affecting air quality. All outdoor activities are canceled.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A health advisory has been issued by Prince George's officials due to a Code Purple Air Quality Alert that's in place. All county events planned for Thursday that are outdoors have been canceled as have all school activities outdoors.
The county government will continue to evaluate air quality and determine if county services will be affected Friday.
Residents are encouraged to follow the below safety precautions outlined by the Prince George’s County Health Department:

- Stay indoors: It is important to remain indoors as much as possible during this period. Only venture outside if it is absolutely necessary.
- Mask usage: If you go outdoors, wear the right mask at all times. This additional layer of protection will help reduce the amount of harmful pollutants you are exposed to. Remember to follow proper mask-wearing guidelines.
- Close windows and doors: Keep all windows and doors closed to minimize the entry of polluted air into your living and working spaces.
- Avoid strenuous activities: Refrain from engaging in strenuous activities, such as exercising, outdoors during this time. Choose indoor alternatives or rest until the air quality improves.
- Pet safety: Remember that the air quality also can affect pets. Avoid taking them for walks during this period. If your pet needs to relieve themselves, do it quickly and then bring them back indoors.
- Use an air filter: If possible, use a freestanding indoor air filter with particle removal. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on filter replacement and proper placement.
- Minimize outdoor work: If your work involves spending time outside, consider reducing your workload if possible. If not, make sure to wear a K95/KN95 or P-100 mask to provide optimal protection.
- Seek medical attention: If you experience difficulty breathing, nausea or dizziness, seek medical attention immediately.
