Bowie Woman Scores Big In Lottery On Her Birthday

BOWIE, MD — Although it took her three days to realize, a Bowie woman won $50,000 in the Maryland Lottery.

As a birthday treat, the 66-year-old paralegal bought a Bonus Match 5 ticket for the July 30 drawing and and a Powerball ticket for an upcoming drawing.

“I just came home and put the tickets in a drawer,” she said. “I didn’t check them until three days later.”

The woman realized she won $50,000 in the Bonus Match 5 game and checked her ticket multiple times in disbelief. The lucky birthday winner plans to use her prize to get out of debt and help her daughter financially.

The retailer at 3570 Crain Highway will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize ticket in the game.
