Changes To Trash Pick Up Take Effect This Week In Prince George's

This week, residents can set out two bulky items or two trash bags with small household items with their regular trash.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Starting this week, residents can set out two bulky items or two trash bags with small household items each week with their regular trash for pickup from their county-provided trash hauler. Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said the enhanced service allows residents to dispose of unwanted items in a timelier manner, cuts down on wait times and eliminates the temptation to dump illegally.

“We are working hard to help residents ‘Clear the Curb’ by modernizing and streamlining our waste collection services, especially in the area of bulky trash,” Alsobrooks said. “We heard from residents that it was taking too long for bulky trash pickups through our current appointment-based system and we listened. With our new and improved curbside bulky trash collection program, it will be quicker and more convenient than ever to get rid of unwanted bulky trash items from your household.”

All bulky items placed curbside need to be too large to fit in a county-issued or regular trash cart and need to be placed next to the trash cart for collection. Bulky items placed in other areas at the curb will not be collected. Acceptable items that can be left curbside include:
