Fatal Shots Fired In Dog Attack, Responding Officer Hit By Car
A police officer fatally shot a dog attacking a man Saturday while a 2nd officer was hit by a vehicle while driving to the scene to help.
FORESTVILLE, MD — A police officer fatally shot one of two dogs attacking a man Saturday morning in the 3200 block of Walters Lane. A second police officers responding to the call ended up being hit by a vehicle while en route to the scene.
Prince George's Police officers were called the area for a report of two large dogs attacking a man. When the first officer arrived at the scene, one of the two dogs charged at the officer who fired his gun and hit the dog, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
The man who was attacked by the dog was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to his face. No officers were injured, however, the police department stated.

Prince George’s County Animal Control were called to the scene and took custody of both dogs. The dog that was shot by the police officers died of its injuries. Per departmental policy, the state Internal Affairs Division is investigating the incident, the Prince George's County Police Department reported.
A second police officer in a cruiser heading to the scene to help the first responding police officer was hit by a vehicle in the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Walters Lane. That officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released. The other driver wasn't injured, the police department stated.
