A 12-year-old elite ice skater from Maryland was on board the plane that crashed Wednesday with an Army helicopter.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Community members gathered at the Tucker Road Ice Rink in Fort Washington Friday for a prayer vigil and to remember a young figure skater who was killed in the American Airlines plane crash with an Army helicopter Wednesday night.

Olivia Eve Ter, 12, from Prince George's County, was one of the elite skaters from the DMV region on board the plane with their coaches.

Fourteen figure skaters were on American Airlines flight 5342 preparing to land in Washington, D.C., Jan. 29. They had been in Wichita, Kansas, trying out for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team, according to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
