Fatal Hit-And-Run In Oxon Hill Prompts Police To Search For Silver Chevy Pickup: PGPD

Police are searching for a silver Chevy pickup they believe was involved in a hit-and-run Friday that killed 35-year-old Melvin Garcia.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Police are searching for the vehicle they say was involved in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that happened Friday in Oxon Hill.

On Aug. 16, at approximately noon, Prince George's police officers were called to the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road for a report of a pedestrian that had been hit by a vehicle. Officers found 35-year-old Melvin Garcia of Oxon Hill in a parking lot suffering from trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the involved driver hit the victim and then left the scene. Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspected vehicle. The vehicle is believed to be a 2002-2006 silver Chevrolet Avalanche. The vehicle may have damage to the front bumper/grill area and driver's side headlight.
