House Fire Kills 2 Oxon Hill Residents, 2 Others Escape Unharmed

Two Oxon Hill residents died in a Sunday night house fire. Two other residents were able to escape unharmed, according to the PGFD.

OXON HILL, MD — Two adults died in a house fire Sunday evening, according to officials.

Prince George's County firefighters were called to the home located in the 5500 block of Galloway Drive. They found "well advanced" fire conditions at the two-story single family home. Two adults living there were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm and escaped without injury. However, two other adults, a man and a woman, were unable to escape the home and found dead in the basement," according to the PGFD.

The fire is under investigation. Firefighters remind residents to check their smoke alarms to make sure they work and to create a home escape plan. Anyone who needs to have a free smoke alarm installed in their home can call the fire department at 301-583-2200.
