16-Year-Old Fatally Shot By 18-Year-Old Friend While Playing With Gun: PGPD

A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot by his 18-year-old friend while they were playing with a gun, according to Prince George's Police.

BELTSVILLE, MD — An 18-year-old Pennsylvania man has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old Beltsville teen.

On May 10 around 4:25 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the victim's home located in the 11000 block of Heartwood Drive. They found 16-year-old Derrick Palmer with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later, according to police.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, 18-year-old Kimaury Kamara of Mt. Holly Spring, Pennsylvania, shot Palmer while playing with a gun. Police have charged Kamara with manslaughter and related charges. He's in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Maryland Bureau Chief Brad Bell's sources told 7News that Kamara put a “switched “ gun to his friend’s head and pulled the trigger. Since the gun was switched, two shots were fired.
