Sentence Handed Down To Man Who Targeted Businesses, Individuals In Armed Robberies

A Laurel man has been sentenced for armed, attempted robberies carried out across Howard, Prince George's and Montgomery counties.

LANDOVER, MD — A 43-year-old Landover man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a series of armed and attempted armed robberies of businesses located in Prince George's, Howard and Montgomery counties.

According to his guilty plea, between December 2022 and February 2023, James Kareen Daycommitted three armed robberies and four attempted armed robberies of several businesses located within the three counties. Day took off with money and property belonging to the businesses and victims. During some of the robberies, Day pulled out a short-barrel shotgun while demanding cash and valuables, according to prosecutors.

U.S. District Judge Theodore D. Chuang sentenced Day to 16 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
