NATIONAL HARBOR, MD -- WMATA will be launching a study to examine the feasibility of creating a Metro stop at National Harbor, according to a report.

The Washington Business Journal reports that WMATA will examine the logistics of sending trains between Alexandria, Va. and National Harbor using the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

The study would forecast ridership to a theoretical National Harbor station, as well as how much it would cost to operate the trains and how much would have to be invested to put a station there.

The study would also need to examine whether Metro tracks could be put on the drawbridge, which opens a few dozen times per year, the report states. WMATA has already started working on the study, WMATA general manager Paul Wiedefeld said, according to the report.
