FORT WASHINGTON, MD -- A man has died after he was struck while walking in a service road in Fort Washington early Sunday morning.

Police identified the victim as 43-year-old Lawrence Sedgewick of Fort Washington. Police responded to the 11000 block of Indian Head Highway shortly after midnight on June 23, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

"The preliminary investigation suggests the involved car was travelling northbound on the service road when it struck the pedestrian who was walking in one of the lanes of the service road," the report states. "The driver remained on the scene. He was not hurt."
