Prince George's County Animal Services Shelter Full, Fees Waived To Encourage Adoptions

The Prince George's animal shelter is full and to help, adoption fees are being waived. Recently, the shelter took in 200 animals.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — In the past week, Prince George's County Animal Services Facility and Adoption Center has taken in 200 animals including 53 that were removed from homes due to safety concerns. The shelter is at a critical dog capacity level and needs help, leaders say.

To encourage residents to adopt and provide shelter animals with a permanent, loving home, the shelter is waiving all adoption fees for the interim.

“We are going for the ‘gold’ and we plan to cross the finish line in first place by adopting out 300 animals in the month of August. The 'Maryland 3,000' adoption challenge allows us to waive the adoption fees to help us achieve victory and find safe and loving homes for adoptable pets,” said Andrea Crooms, director of the department of the environment.
