PGCC Police Chief Arrested After DUI Incident Causing Serious Injuries
Prince George's Community College's police chief has been arrested after VA officers say he was involved in a DUI crash with injuries.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The chief of police for Prince George's Community College has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence after being involved in a two-car crash in Fair Lakes that caused life-threatening injuries to another driver.
On Dec. 6 around 7:30 p.m., police officers from the Fairfax County Police Department were called to the intersection of Random Hills Road and Fairfax Hills Way where Derek Myers, 55, was driving a Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Random Hills Way and lost control of his car, according to police.
The police department said Myers entered the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a Honda CRV. The driver of the Honda CRV sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital, the police department stated. Myers also was injured and taken to the hospital, but is expected to be okay.
