Sobriety Checkpoint Thursday In Prince George's County
Heads up! The Special Operations Division of the Prince George's County Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Thursday.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Special Operations Division of the Prince George's County Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Thursday.
The checkpoint will be held from 5-11 p.m. Officers will focus on the northern portion of the county, police said.
Officers will look for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving. Drugs which may impair driving not only include illegal narcotics, but many prescription drugs, marijuana, and even some over-the-counter medications.

Law enforcement agencies must announce when checkpoints will be held, but drivers are still frequently found driving impaired, police said.
Driving under the influence in Maryland carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in jail, a $1,000 fine, and a six-month suspension of driving privileges.
