Student With 2 Loaded Guns Stopped By Metal Detectors At Potomac High School: Police

A 19-year-old high school junior has been arrested after police say metal detectors at school found 2 loaded guns concealed in his clothes.

OXON HILL, MD — A 19-year-old high school junior at Potomac High School has been arrested after police say he attempted to enter the school building carrying two loaded guns.

Around 10:45 a.m. Monday, the Prince George's Police Department was contacted by school security personnel about the incident. The guns tripped a metal detector as the student tried to walk into school. He was concealing the weapons inside his clothing, the police department stated.

The student has been identified as Jamel Curtis of Oxon Hill. He is in custody and will be charged with multiple offenses including handgun on person and dangerous weapon on school property.
