Temple University Student From Bowie Fatally Shot During Suspected Drug Deal: Police

A Temple University student from Bowie was fatally shot off-campus during a suspected drug deal, according to Philadelphia Police.

BOWIE, MD — A Temple University student from Bowie was fatally shot off-campus Thursday around 11 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Carlisle Street of North Philadelphia.

Temple University officials identified the student who was fatally shot as Chase Myles, 20, an undergraduate student in the Klein College of Media and Communication. He died at a hospital after the shooting.

"The loss of any life is a tragedy, but that is especially true when the loss is that of a bright and engaged student like Chase. A native of Bowie, Maryland, Chase was well-known to his peers at Klein and was respected by faculty and staff alike. There is no doubt that Chase was a deeply valued member of our community, which is what makes delivering this news especially difficult. The loss of his life leaves a significant void within Temple and Klein," stated John Fry, president of Temple University, in a statement sent to faculty, staff and students.

The suspected gunman was identified by Philadelphia Police as 23-year-old Nicholas Iaderosa from the 1400 block of North Carlisle Street. Iaderosa will be charged with murder and related crimes, police said. Fox 29 reported that investigators found a bag of suspected marijuana at the scene, leading authorities to believe the shooting was drug-related.
