Chipotle Delivery Service Coming to University of Maryland

The popular restaurant chain will add delivery to four Maryland universities this year, and dozens more nationwide.

University of Maryland students who crave Chipotle, but don’t want to leave home for their favorite fresh Mexican food, will soon be able to have it delivered through an online order app.

Chipotle announced a new partnership with Tapingo, a mobile commerce app that provides food pickup and delivery.

The partnership expands Chipotle’s delivery program, adding 40 college campuses nationwide this fall, including the College Park campus. More than 100 campuses will be added to the delivery service by spring 2016.

Students at Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University Maryland, and Towson University will also gain access to the Chipotle delivery service this fall.

According to a news release, Chipotle also has nationwide delivery partnerships with Postmates, which operates in several key Chipotle markets, and with OrderUp, which provides delivery service in several smaller Chipotle markets.

“Chipotle has been popular with students going back to our very first restaurant near the University of Denver, and we are always looking for ways to better engage with them,” said Mark Crumpacker, chief creative and development officer at Chipotle.

Tapingo has a rapidly growing user base, the majority of whom are Millennials and Gen Zs. Chipotle has devoted customers in a similar audience, the chain says.
