4th of July Weather in Maryland: Rain Chances in Early Forecast
Thunderstorm chances Sunday and on the 4th of July, but timing will be key to determine the impact on Maryland events.

The simple timing of the 4th of July makes it an easy target for rain and storms to ruin the holiday fun.
This year is no different.
Current forecasts suggest we'll see rain and possibly thunderstorms Monday, including the chance for afternoon and evening showers to rain out some of our fireworks fun.
Rain showers are expected in the morning, according to The Weather Channel, evolving into a more steady rain in the afternoon. There's the potential for heavy rainfall Monday night.

Slightly less pessimistic, the National Weather Service puts the chance for showers and thunderstorms at 40 percent during the day and 50 percent Monday night.
"Before anyone panics or starts canceling July 4 festivities, consider this forecast applies to a period five days into future and is uncertain," cautions the Capital Weather Gang. "Models don’t agree on the details of the timing and track of the weather system that could potentially ignite storms."
