Elkridge:

Where/When: Howard County Conservancy at 10520 Old Frederick Rd. in Woodstock on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m.

Why Go: Dr. Michael Raupp will lead this hike and lecture through the conservancy's grounds. (It will be held rain or shine; if the weather is bad it will be held indoors.)

Ellicott City:

Where/When: Small park at the corner of Sybert Dr. and Meadowbrook Lane on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why Go: If you're hunting for a bargain on some nice, gently-used items, come to this yard sale that features everything from baby items to books to pet supplies!

Where/When: on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 8:45 a.m.

Why Go: Journey around the labyrinth in honor of one of the victims of the September 11 attacks. Sign up online and specify the person you are walking to remember or have a person assigned to you at random.
