Health Tip of the Day: Don’t Leave Your Child in the Car

Dr. Walt Atha, the medical director of the emergency department at offers this commonsense tip to keep your family safe this summer:

“Don’t leave kids in cars, because cars heat up tremendously very rapidly.”

Even with the windows cracked, cars get very hot, he said.

In Maryland, it is illegal to leave children under the age of 8 unattended in a motor vehicle, according to Safekids.org, a site that tracks child safety laws nationwide.
