Shots Fired at Cedar Lane Townhouse; No One Injured

Howard County police have increased patrols in the area.

Howard County police are investigating reports of shots fired this weekend at a townhouse they said was targeted.

Police responded to the incident at the 5700 block of Cedar Lane at 2 a.m. Saturday. No one was hurt.

A 39-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter were sleeping when unknown suspects fired multiple shots toward the rear of the residence, according to a press release. The woman and her daughter secured themselves in a bedroom and neighbors called 9-1-1, police said.

Another family member who lives at the residence, an 18-year-old male, was not home at the time of the incident, police said.

Police are trying to determine a motive. They also said it appears the home was targeted, according to a press release.

Police have increased patrols and in the vicinity and ask anyone who sees suspicious activity to call 9-1-1.
