May 27—
Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) located the owner of a kayak that was found floating unattended Sunday morning in the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the West River.

Christopher Drott, 52, of Edgewater said he fell out of his kayak at 7 p.m. Saturday and swam to shore, according to NRP.

May 25—
A two-car accident on Maryland Route 424 near U.S. Route 50 in Davidsonville caused significant traffic delays, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Michael Cox.
Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, firefighters found that one of the cars had rolled over and was on fire, Cox said.

May 22—
The Davidsonville Athletic Association’s (DAA) Board of Directors emailed local parents after board members said a suspicious man was seen in a minivan allegedly taking photographs of children playing on playground equipment.
According to the email, concerned parents approached the man in the van earlier last week, but he sped out of the parking lot. Parents described the van as "silver" or "champagne-colored."

May 19—
Brian McDevitt, a Pasadena man whose death earlier this year , had alcohol in his system and was excessively speeding when the car he was driving hit another car on Fort Smallwood Road, according to the Maryland Gazette.
McDevitt, 32, was traveling between 99 and 113 mph at the time of the accident and had a blood-alcohol content of between .05 and .07 percent, according to documents obtained by the Gazette.

Officials from the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal division arrested three juveniles in connection with a brush and debris fire at Mount Zion Marlboro and Sands roads in Lothian.

More than a dozen car tires were slashed in Shady Side on April 27 in the Cedarhurst on the Bay community in what police labeled a "random act."
“It had to have taken one or more people quite a bit to vandalize these cars, especially when they were on multiple streets,” one of the victims told Patch. “Yet, no one saw anything.”

May 14—
On May 4 at about 9:45 a.m., the Green Hornets' 10-year-old boys lacrosse team was practicing at the school when a black dog ran out from the woods and onto the field.
According to Marc Griswold, a Green Hornets dad who attended the practice, the dog appeared to be a pit bull and aggressively barked at one of the boys on the field. The dog then bit the boy in the calf, drawing blood, he said.

A 68-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when a car struck him near Muddy Creek Road and Galeville Road in Galesville, authorities said.

A naked man fought officers in Edgewater after they tried to take him into protective custody, according to police.
Police suspected that Robert Salvatore Lamb was under the influence of phencyclidine (PCP) because he was acting irrationally, according to the release. Officers reportedly tried to take Lamb into protective custody but he resisted. Police said after Lamb became very aggressive, officers used a stun gun to subdue him.

A Shady Side man allegedly attacked police and bit an officer's leg while possibly under the influence of drugs, according to a police press release.
Police charged Rico Carl Smith, 41, of Nick Road in Shady Side, with reckless endangerment, assault, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Riva woman accused of having sex with her friend’s teenage son in Texas, according to The Capital.
According to HoustonPress.com, police in Harris County, TX, issued a warrant for Riva’s Karen Carstens’ arrest for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old boy on multiple occasions.
