Kim Oldham Announces Bid For Howard County State's Attorney

Kim Oldham a veteran prosecutor will be announcing her run for State's Attorney Office Mach. 28 at the Howard County Circuit Courthouse.

Kim Oldham For State's Attorney: On Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 5:15 p.m., Kim Yon Oldham will be announcing her run as a candidate for Howard County State’s Attorney in the courtyard of the Howard County Circuit Courthouse.

A veteran prosecutor with the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office for the past twenty years, Kim Oldham currently holds the position of Deputy State’s Attorney with responsibility for the supervision of attorneys, overseeing complex criminal investigations and handing a full felony caseload. Kim has dedicated her career to improving public safety in Howard County by working to aggressively and fairly prosecuting the most violent offenders and seeking justice for victims of crime. Kim is running for State’s Attorney to continue her efforts to keep Howard County safe and to maintain a tough stance against those who commit violent crimes, crimes against the vulnerable, and those who victimize people and businesses located in our community.

A graduate of Virginia Tech and Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law, Kim has excelled as a prosecutor and has advanced in the office through her leadership and courtroom skills. Current State’s Attorney, Dario J. Broccolino, has said, “I can’t think of anyone better qualified to be State’s Attorney. If she were my opponent, I would vote for her.”

Howard County Executive, Allan Kittleman, has said, “Kim Oldham is exactly the type of home-grown, career prosecutor we need running the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office. Her record in the courtroom is unmatched and she has a reputation for being strong and fair.”

Kim has dedicated countless hours partnering with the Howard County Police Department’s training division, preparing classes and teaching classes of police cadets and veteran officers in constitutional law, criminal law, search and seizure and courtroom preparation. Kim is a proud graduate of the Leadership Howard County program which fosters leaders in the community dedicated to coming up with solutions and collaborative efforts to address issues in the County.

Kim is very involved in the Howard County community through her service as a board member of HC Drug Free, a member of the Overdose Fatality Review Team, an adjunct member of the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Association and its Violent Crimes subcommittee. Kim volunteers as a judge each year for the Simulated Congressional Hearings and she is a parent volunteer at both Worthington Elementary and Ellicott Mills Middle School. She is also a catechist at the Our Lady Of Perpetual Help parish.

Kim’s husband, Jack Mitchell, served Howard County as a police officer for twenty years before retiring to practice law. They have two children and live in Ellicott City. An avid marathoner and ultra-marathoner, Kim is well prepared for the race she has now entered; the race to serve Howard County as its next State’s Attorney.
