Dump Truck Driver Dies In Rollover Crash On I-270: MD State Police
A dump truck driver from Frederick died Monday in a rollover crash on I-270 in Montgomery County, Maryland State Police said.
CLARKSBURG, MD — A dump truck driver from Frederick died in a crash on southbound Interstate 270 at Route 109 that happened Monday morning in Montgomery County, Maryland State Police said.
The victim is identified as Rodney Lee Gibson, 54. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service personnel.
Troopers from the Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack responded about 10:10 a.m. for a report of a crash.

Investigators said a dump truck and a 2019 Ford Transit van collided. The dump truck, driven by Gibson, then struck a bridge abutment and overturned into a ravine, state police said. No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with road closures. Montgomery County Police and HAZMAT units also responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
