A Gaithersburg man described by authorities as a "career criminal" was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a gun, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday.
Everett Floyd Jenkins, 51, was previously convicted of second degree murder, attempted distribution of heroin and distribution of heroin.
According to the DOJ, Jenkins was pulled over by Montgomery County police while traveling on Lost Knife Road on Dec. 24, 2011.
