Stabbing Under Investigation In Gaithersburg: Police (patch.com) — Gaithersburg residents are being alerted after a man was hurt in a reported stabbing late Sunday morning on the 18200 block of Flower Hill Way. Police say the victim’s injuries were minor, but no suspect was in custody as of Monday, and the investigation is ongoing.
   

2. $1 Million Winning Lottery Ticket Sold at Maryland Gas Station (mocoshow.com) — A $1 million Maryland Lottery FAST PLAY ticket was sold at the Lake Forest Exxon on North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg, and the prize remains unclaimed as of January 5. 3. Biologics manufacturing facility to open in Rockville (thedailyrecord.com) — Gaithersburg is slated to gain a new AstraZeneca clinical facility as part of a broader $2 billion life-sciences investment in Maryland, while Samsung Biologics is taking over and expanding GSK’s Rockville plant. The Rockville project will preserve more than 500 jobs and add more, reinforcing Montgomery County’s growing role as a biotech and biomanufacturing hub near Gaithersburg.
   

4. Lawmakers boost funding for NIST after proposed cuts (federalnewsnetwork.com) — Major new federal funding will help repair and upgrade research facilities at NIST’s main Gaithersburg campus, reinforcing the city’s role in national science and technology work. Lawmakers rejected proposed Trump administration cuts, instead boosting NIST’s budgets for AI, cybersecurity, manufacturing support, and core research programs nationwide.
