Charter school leaders urge school board not to revoke its license (mymcmedia.org) ā€” Gaithersburgā€™s MECCA Business Learning Institute, the countyā€™s only charter school, is fighting a recommendation from the superintendent to revoke its charter for sixth and seventh grades after an order of noncompliance last fall. School leaders say theyā€™ve addressed concerns over special education, transportation, and staffing, and are urging the Board of Education to keep the school open when it votes on January 22.
