Germantown Man Gets Jail Time For Cocaine, Firearms Charges

A Germantown man was sentenced to prison for possession of 96 grams of cocaine, a firearm and more.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A Germantown man was sentenced to ten years in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm, federal prosecutors announced.

Andrew Dean Bailey, 32, pleaded guilty after police executed a search warrant at his Germantown home on March 23, 2017.

Officers seized a loaded .40 caliber handgun, additional .40 caliber rounds of Winchester ammunition, about 96 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of alprazolam (Xanax) and 1 gram of morphine pills. Police also seized $15,900 in drug-trafficking proceeds.

Bailey admitted that he intended to sell the cocaine found in his apartment, and that he possessed that loaded .40 caliber handgun in order to protect his drugs and drug-trafficking proceeds, prosecutors said.

Prior to March 23, Bailey had been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment (and his civil rights had not been restored), which prohibited him from legally possessing firearms or ammunition.
