Germantown Murder Victim Identified By Police

UPDATES: Police have identified the man who was found dead inside a home in Germantown.

(Updated 10:20 a.m. Friday): GERMANTOWN, MD — Police are investigating the murder of a man who was found dead inside a home in Germantown Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Maurice Cortez Mercer, 30, of the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way.

Officers were called to Mercer's home for the report of a suspicious situation at about 3:51 p.m. Wednesday. Arriving officers located Mercer deceased in the home with trauma to his body, police said.

This death is being investigated as a homicide, police told Patch. An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the cause of death.
