• $50K Powerball Tickets Sold in Montgomery County on Christmas Eve (mocoshow.com) — A $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven on Frederick Road in Germantown on Christmas Eve, giving one local player a major holiday windfall. Another $50,000 winner was sold in Wheaton, and several other big prizes from the recent record jackpot run also landed in Montgomery County, including more wins in Germantown.

• St. Mary's College Volleyball Quartet Garner Academic All-District Honors (thebaynet.com) — A St. Mary’s College volleyball player from Germantown has earned Academic All-District honors, spotlighting local talent succeeding both on the court and in the classroom. She and three teammates helped the Seahawks capture their first United East tournament title and an inaugural NCAA Division III tournament berth, all while maintaining GPAs well above 3.5.
