Montgomery County Cops Connect With Kids Through Golf
Ten kids spent their Monday playing golf with Montgomery County police officers.
GERMANTOWN, MD — A group of kids spent their Monday surrounded by Montgomery County police officers — not because they were in trouble, but to play golf.
These ten children — all between the ages of 9 and 11 — were previously enrolled in the police department's annual summer camp, which was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a way to bring the youngsters together, the department hosted a golf clinic at the South Germantown Driving Range.
"This has been a tough year for us — for everyone," County Police Chief Marcus Jones said. "We are just so happy that we were able to do this for (the kids). This is a win."

At the driving range, the kids took practice swings and got golf lessons from Ana Orlov, an assistant golf pro at Bethesda Country Club.
"My goal is to bring the love of the game to the community of juniors right here," Orlov said.

For some children, like 9-year-old Justin Isenburg, Monday's event was an excuse to get outside and socialize.
"It's pretty nice of them because usually, I'm on the computer all day," Isenburg told WJLA.
The event was organized by the Montgomery County Police Department and sponsored by the Montgomery County Police Foundation.
Today, MCP in partnership w/ the M.C. Police Foundation hosted a golf clinic for 10 kids ages 9 to 11 at South Germantown Driving Range.
